Congratulations, you are an excellent language learner!
Guess what? If you listened to my podcast episode on 3 things excellent language learners do differently (or you read my email or blog post), and then found your way here, that means you've already done the fourth thing!
Do you know what it is yet? Let me tell you: You've followed your curiosity. The way this often shows up in a language learning context is through asking questions, building on your interests, and seizing any opportunity to learn new things. For example, you found your way to this page because you probably assumed you might learn something, right?
There's fascinating research into how curiosity works. In a similar way to how satisfying it feels to eat when you're hungry, it feels really good to learn when you're feeling curious, because the brain's reward centres actually treat these 'needs' (for food or knowledge) in similar ways.
If you're a recovering perfectionist like me, then this might help to let go of perfectionism a little bit more - especially if you embody the phrase 'get it right, or don't say anything at all': Getting an answer to a question wrong actually helps you learn the right answer - if you were curious to know it. In other words, curiosity combined with guessing incorrectly makes you more likely to remember something.
You can read more about what curiosity looks like in the brain, or hear neuroscientist Matthias Gruber explain below:
But wait, there's more!
Since you've made it this far, you may just be my favourite kind of language learner: Somebody who is curious, ambitious about their learning, and open to learning in new and unexpected ways.
I'd like to offer you 2 free no-commitment language/learning coaching sessions with me*. You're in charge, you pick the focus, and my job is to help you embody the best version of yourself. These sessions can focus on language-specific coaching in English, Norwegian or both, giving you a taste of the Neurolanguage Coaching® approach, or if you're learning a different language or skill, I'll help coach you on anything from planning and strategy, to motivation and habit building, to impostor syndrome and limiting beliefs.
If you're interested, all you need to do is book your first call with me by filling in a few details about yourself below, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can:
* As long as I have availability, we will make it work. The 2nd session must be booked no more than 2 months after the 1st session.
